I havn’t posted in a long time but I feel like a series of fuckery is occuring. Nothing serious. Today I had to get a tuberculosis test done for a volunteering position working with the elderly in hospice. So as the nurse is getting all the shots prepared she’s telling all the volunteers that if we’ve ever lived in England we’re probably going to test positive on the test because over there it is common to get this BCG vaccine or something for TB and so the antibodies are in your system now and will make the test look like a positive but you obviously dont really have TB but we’d still have to go to Patient First and get a chest x-ray to “prove” that it really isn’t TB. When it was my turn I was like “I don’t know if I’ve ever had the vaccination but I probably did because my mom vaccinated me for everything”. Like seriously, I’ve never had the chicken pox because I got the vaccine, I think the actual day the the HPV vaccine for girls came out a few years ago my mom threw my ass in the car and was like “Let’s go, new vaccine time.” So the nurse tells me, Oh no, no, no one gets that shot in the US, it is highly uncommon. So I get the TB test done and have to get the injection site checked on Monday. If it’s swollen, it’s positive, if not you’re good. So tonight I’m telling my mom about all this and she’s like, oh yeah you got a TB vaccine in 2001. ………………….. So this is what I get for having a diligent/worrisome/overprotective, vaccination up-to-date mother growing up, a swollen arm and a chest x-ray on Monday.
